James C. Sullivan

James C. Sullivan graduated from Boston College and Villanova University School of Law, and was admitted to practice in Rhode Island in 1988 and Massachusetts in 1989.  Prior to forming a partnership with his father, Leo J. Sullivan, Jim was an associate at the law firm of Tillinghast, Collins & Graham in Providence and a law clerk for the Rhode Island Supreme Court law clerk pool.

He is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA).  This distinction is issued by the National Elder Law Foundation, and includes passing an examination as well as demonstrating specialized knowledge and skills in the area of elder law.  Jim concentrates his practice in the areas of elder law, estate planning and administration, real estate (financing, conveyancing and land use), and general business matters.

Jim is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).  He is also a member of the Rhode Island and Washington County Bar Associations, and the Rhode Island Bar Association’s Title Standards Committee and Probate and Trust Committee.


Donna S. Madden

Donna S. Madden is a graduate of Providence College and Suffolk University Law School, and was admitted to practice in the State of Rhode Island in 1988. Prior to her association with Sullivan & Sullivan, P.C., she was employed by the Supreme Court of Rhode Island as the supervisory member of the Law Clerk Pool serving the Superior, Family and District Courts with legal research and courtroom assistance.

Donna focuses her practice in the areas of medicaid planning, estate planning and administration, guardianships and real estate. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). She is also a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and its Title Standards Committee.


Elizabeth F. Sullivan

Elizabeth F. Sullivan graduated from Boston College and Rutgers University School of Law, and was admitted to practice in Rhode Island in 1988 and Massachusetts in 1989. Prior to joining the firm of Sullivan & Sullivan, P.C., she was an associate with the firm of Rice, Dolan & Kershaw in Providence, specializing in civil litigation and insurance coverage issues. Betsy was also previously associated with the firm of Martin, Magnuson, McCarthy & Kenney in Boston. She also served as a Law Clerk to Justice Thomas F. Kelleher of the Supreme Court of Rhode Island.

Betsy focuses her practice in the area of estate planning and administration as well as litigation and insurance issues. She is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.


Robert H. Breslin, Jr.

A practicing attorney for nearly 50 years, Breslin was a founding member of the firm Breslin Sweeney & Earle. He joined Sullivan & Sullivan, P.C. as of counsel in 2008. Bob earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University, his juris doctor from Boston College Law School, and his master of laws in taxation from Boston University Law School. Long active in politics, he is a former member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives and the Rhode Island Constitutional Convention. He also is a member of both the Rhode Island and Massachusetts bar associations and is a member and past president of the Warwick Rotary Club. He lives in Saunderstown with his wife, Carol.


Albert D. Saunders, Jr.

Al has practiced law in Rhode Island since 1965. He joined Sullivan & Sullivan, P.C. as of counsel in 2008. Al attended Brown University and the University of Rhode Island, from which he received his B.S. degree in 1956. He served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army and earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law School in 1964. He is a former member and president of the East Greenwich Town Council, past president of the University of Rhode Island Alumni Association, past member of the Executive Committee of the University of Rhode Island Foundation and a long time member of the East Greenwich Rotary Club. He now lives in Portsmouth with his wife, Valerie.
